BYE-BYE BECKHAM

I guess my Beckham-chasing has come to an end, sadly. We caught him leaving Newcastle this morning, in a black car with very tinted windows. The rest of the LA Galaxy left in a team bus, on their way to Sydney.

Becks is a trooper though, he was spotted at a local bar until well after 2am this morning - he must have been trying to ease the pain of his team’s loss and his minor back injury.

While it’s been hard work chasing him around, although most of the time he did stay inside his hotel room, it’s been a lot of fun! I still can’t believe that I actually managed to meet him and had a sincere conversation. I told everyone that I was going to meet him, but even I didn’t really believe it would happen! I guess the moral of the story is, persistence pays off!

PS. Thankyou so much to everyone who contributed to this blog, you know who you are! And if David Beckham ever comes back to Newcastle, I am your gal!

BECKHAM-CHASE DAY 3

It’s 11.45pm and I am starting to become quite exhausted! This Beckham-chasing thing is tough, although as you can see, the fruits of our labour are well worth it!

We didn’t see much of Becks today, he was probably still recovering from our meeting last night! But we did get to see a lot of him at the big game tonight. He played the full 90 minutes, even though he picked up a back injury, and said in the post-match press conference that he just really wanted to do it for the fans. At the press conference, by the way, I was front row and centre! I managed to get a question into Landon Donovan, but try as I might, the big burly media guy kept ignoring me when it came to David’s turn. Not to worry though, I actually got to meet him, shake his hand and have a conversation. So I guess the other media, can ask questions from a distance!!!

Becks and the team are leaving Newcastle tomorrow :( I’m trying to find out when, so I can get a couple of last glimpses before they leave our shores, because who knows if they’ll ever be back.

Some more shots of the game

This one’s for Alexander.

At the end of the game, a lucky Newcastle fan got David’s shirt as a keepsake. Why, oh why couldn’t that have been me?!

Some pictures from tonight’s LA Galaxy-Newcastle Jets game. 23,317 people, all very vocal!

“Oh David, you are so funny!”

The Proof!!!!
Yes that’s me (looking a little strange) and David Beckham. Looks like he’s listening very carefully doesn’t it!!!
